With a Sprinkle of Ginger

I can't stand the taste of ginger. One time my A&P instructor, who is a naturopathic physician, gave all of her students candied ginger the night of our comprehensive final exam because it's supposed to be good for your memory or something like that. I tried one piece and... well, I did great on the exam. But ginger and I parted ways that night.

Except now I'm sipping on a hot cup of lemon ginger tea, because it's supposed to be a digestive aid. My, how one does change. Clearly, I'll do anything to avoid discomfort during an IBS flare-up. Even if it takes candied ginger--although I do hope it doesn't come to that.

Anyway, I wrote this in July; it's still applicable--always will be. It's so necessary to be thankful for everything in our lives, even the hard things. David said to "magnify God," not "complain to God." Magnifying God, not our circumstances, is unique in its ability to transcend what we can see, including ourselves. We do this by saying "Thank You."

Thank You.
Thank You for all the bipolar sunshine we've had this year.
Thank You that I have four sisters who I can lean on and lift up to you, Jesus.
Thank You that I have no money.
Thank You that I feel like I'm always trying to catch up with life.
Thank You that I don't love my body.
Thank You that I have work and lots of it.
Thank You that there is so much to do and so little time to do it.
Thank You for giving me freedom from sin. And alcohol, too.
Thank You that my Mommy and Dad are faithful warriors, forsaking all for you, Jesus.
Thank You that I can breathe and sing and play the piano.
Thank You that You are the victor over all evil; sole comfort for all suffering and pain.
Thank You that while there's life, there's hope.
Thank You that You are my strength; You make perfect my humanity.
Thank You for stomach pain and back pain.
Thank You that Carol Everett came to You, Jesus.
Thank You that feelings aren't what count.
Thank You for saving and loving me, simply because I trust in You.
Thank You for dying.
Thank You for understanding.
Thank You for rising again; on earth and in my heart.
Thank You.
